What is Pixo?
A picture and PDF viewer for the Mac that replaces Preview for photos. It opens pictures at once, shows whole folders without importing them, has the picture and PDF tools you keep looking for, and uses Apple Intelligence on your Mac to answer questions about pictures and documents.
Which formats does Pixo open?
Everything macOS can read: HEIC, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF (animated too), WebP, AVIF, BMP, PSD, RAW from most cameras, SVG, and PDFs. Pixo saves pictures as JPEG, HEIC, AVIF, PNG or TIFF. It reads WebP but cannot save it, because macOS itself cannot write WebP.
Can Pixo replace Preview as my default viewer?
Yes. In Pixo, open Settings, General, and choose Make Pixo the Default for Pictures. Pictures you double-click in Finder then open in Pixo. To go back, use Get Info on a picture in Finder and choose another app under Open With.
What is free?
The whole viewer and grid, Compare, the inspector, Live Text, Recents, Screenshots and Bookmarks, the menu bar panel and Peek, the PDF viewer with its editing, and every tool on one picture or PDF at a time. Asking about a picture is free for 10 questions a day.
Does Pixo change my original files?
No. Every tool saves a new file next to the original, or in a new folder in Downloads if you prefer, and PDF edits are saved as a copy. Only Rename changes a file, its name, and Edit, Undo puts the old name back. Move to Trash moves to the Trash, never deletes, and can be undone.
Where does the AI run?
On your Mac, with Apple's own models (Apple Intelligence) and Vision. Pixo sends your pictures and PDFs to no server, ours or anyone else's, and sells no AI credits.
How much is Pro?
$19.90 a year, or $29 once for the first 200 buyers and $49 after. Both are the same Pro, on 2 Macs. If a yearly plan ends, Pixo keeps working on the free plan.
How many Macs can I use Pro on?
2 at once. To move Pro to another Mac, open Settings, Pro on the old one and choose Deactivate This Mac, then enter the key on the new one.
